It has been announced that the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has informed its members that Jonathan Davis has decided not to take up the role of director of investment affairs.
Mr Davis' proposed move was announced back in November, however he explained: "A number of my other commitments are unfortunately taking up more time than expected, making it difficult to fulfill this full-time role on the basis we originally discussed."
He writes regularly for national media, including The Financial Times and The Spectator.
Although Mr Davis has agreed to provide some independent consultancy work for the ABI, he will be focusing on the completion of a book on the investment methods of John Templeton.
Instead, the ABI has announced that Hugh Savill will continue as acting director of investment affairs, until a permanent appointment is made.
The ABI has more than 300 members, which together account for around 90 per cent of premiums in the UK domestic market.
