Financial advisers are not giving enough advice and support to investors, despite market worries, according to new research.
A study by Skipton Financial Services has revealed that 60 of investors have not had their portfolios reviewed in over a year, while 20 per cent said it had been three years since their last review.
Mark Fleet, managing director at Skipton Financial Services, said: "It is worrying to see that, at the time when investors most need support from their financial adviser, for the majority this advice has been severely lacking.
"The last year or so has been a nervous time for anyone who has invested for their family's futures and it is vital that financial advisers communicate with their clients in bad times, as well as good."
The Fair Investment Company recently revealed that only 34 per cent of its clients had consulted with an advisor before making an investment, with people often using the internet to explore opportunities.
