Many investors believe that the recent climate change conference in Copenhagen will result in no change to global stock markets or the environment.
Users of F&C's investment trust website were asked what effect they thought the Copenhagen Climate Conference would have on the environment and global stock markets, with 42.6 per cent dismissing the likelihood of change as a result of the meeting.
Mike Woodward, head of investment trusts at F&C Investments, believes that even if Copenhagen doesn't directly affect the market the issues discussed are likely to dominate proceedings in the future.
"Climate change is a growing investment theme, as shown by the current scramble between the major utility providers to build offshore wind farms around the British coast," he commented.
However, the survey also shows that 20.4 per cent of respondents think that the conference was beneficial to the market and that it will help contribute towards new business and investment .
In an earlier survey conducted by F&G, 49 per cent of investors said that a change in government would have a positive impact on the economy and stock markets.
