The post-election period will afford investors plenty of opportunities regardless of who occupies Number 10, it has been claimed.
There has been much speculation recently about the impact of the election on the economy, with the Conservatives in particular warning of the dangers of a hung parliament.
However, Paul Mcginnis, head of research at the Co-operative Asset Management, believes investors will be well catered for regardless of who wins power.
He points to three sectors in particular - public sector outsourcing, renewable energy and healthcare - as areas in which investors could exploit.
Mr Mcginnis believes public sector outsourcing will be boosted by the government's need to reduce public sector debt, and renewable energy by the UK's envisaged shortage in power generation capacity.
"Increased private sector involvement will grow the size of the market for a number of healthcare companies including pharmaceutical and medical device suppliers," he added.
GlaxoSmithKline and Shire in particular have good long-term prospects, Mr Mcginnis concluded.
