Investors eyeing the US once more, study finds

Thu, 29 Jan 2009

People are once again seeing good investment opportunities in the US market, according to a new study.

Research by Barclays Stockbrokers found that 24 per cent of investors believe the country has growth potential, while 11 per cent think it offers good value for money.

According to the firm, the inauguration of Barack Obama could kick-start a recovery in the nation.

Barbara-Ann King, head of proposition at the investment company, said: "Those investors who are looking to take advantage of the potential growth in the US market can do so through Barclays Stockbrokers US Supertracker Investment Note."

However, people should allow for growth over the medium term when taking out the investment product, she added.

Last week, Sam Mahtani, fund manager at F&C, predicted that India, China and Indonesia should all offer some good investment opportunities in the year ahead.

He predicted that the nations will benefit from falling prices and fiscal stimulus, which would boost investments.
