Investment firm F&C Managed Portfolio Trust has been building up its stake in Asian and other non-UK income funds .
Peter Hewitt, manager of the investment trust, explained that the move was aimed at finding companies which offer attractive yield opportunities.
Among the acquisitions made in this hunt for profitable investments has been a stake in Henderson Far East Income.
Mr Hewitt said: "Unlike many income-focused trusts, the fund's portfolio is predominantly invested in equities, with more than a third in overseas stocks ."
Currently, 12 per cent of its income portfolio is made up of Asian equity exposure, he explained.
The portfolio has a forecast yield of 7.75 per cent in the year to May 31st, he added, and its overseas investments have been key in helping secure this.
Yesterday, Stuart Parks, head of Asian equities at Invesco Perpetual, claimed that investments in the region face short-term volatility, but should yield good returns over the long term.
