Second ethical investment week planned

Wed, 22 Oct 2008

The second National Ethical Investment Week will be held between May 17th and 23rd, it has been announced.

According to the organisers, the UK Social Investment Forum (UKSIF), the event will aim to continue the momentum gained this year and provide increased support for independent financial advisors .

Penny Sheppard, UKSIF chief executive, said: "National Ethical Investment Week 2009 will connect green and ethical investing with the bigger picture, not only in terms of environmental and social issues, but also in terms of sound financial approaches."

It makes sense to focus on investments which are sustainable in the long term, she added.

Yesterday, Hartford launched a new investment bond which it says will offer people a guaranteed income of around six per cent a year, as well as death benefits .

According to the firm, its Diamond bond will also allow people to take advantage of offshore investing and the associated tax perks.

The bond will provide the income "whatever the markets are doing", the firm stated.
