The stock markets will continue to offer good investments despite the economic downturn, according to one expert.
Hitesh Thakrar, manager of the New Star Global Equity Fund: Profits, explained that markets do not always move in line with the wider economic climate, meaning that even during tough times there are good investments to be had.
Although equities have been erratic in recent times, those investing in them should take a long-term view as to their performance, he stated.
Mr Thakrar said: " Equity markets have in the past bounced back more quickly than the economy and this trend is likely to continue."
For the time being it is likely that investors will concentrate on traditional safe havens such as dividend paying stocks, he added.
Equities which offer earnings growth should also prove to be popular investments, Mr Thakrar claimed.
