Thu, 27 Nov 2008

The F&C Emerging Markets Board investment fund has been given a five star rating by research agency Morningstar, it has been revealed.

Helene Williamson, managing director of the investment product and head of emerging debt at the company, explained that the product aims to invest in fixed income, floating rate and other securities issued by government and firms in its target markets.

She said: "We are delighted to have been granted this rating. It is an important validation of our team research process."

The investment fund, which is open to retail and institutional investors, has produced an annual return of 4.9 per cent net over the last five years, she added.

As well as this, the investment product currently has more than £53.7 million worth of assets under management, she added.

Yesterday, HSBC Global Asset Management claimed that those looking to invest in emerging markets should buy and hold equities, rather than dump the stock .

According to the firm such investments should be a long-term thing.
