The stock market still offers good returns on investments despite recent volatility, it has been claimed.
Rick White, marketing director for Invesco Perpetual, explained that while the short-term outlook might not be wonderful, those making longer term investments could make money .
He said: "Some people may be nervous about investing in the stock market following the volatility experienced in 2007, but they shouldn't necessarily let this deter them as we believe that good returns can still be achieved when investing for the long-term."
Mr White added that the end of the current tax year is a good time for people to consider their investment strategy and which forms of investment are best for them.
Last week a survey by the Association of Investment Companies found that 37 per cent of investors think a recession the biggest threat to their money, with a further 26 per cent concerned about a stock market crash.
